The Ostrich Inn is a 16th century coaching inn situated just a short distance from the Peddars Way ( an old roman road ) and also the "Icknield road" which was the main drovers route from the coast down to the markets in suffolk. The village of Castle Acre has an old priory and a castle which brings visitors to the area. It is an area rich in historic buildings and archealogical sites. There are pretty riverside walks for those who just want to relax and not overdose on culture, exercise and intellect! For the more energetic there is the Peddars Way which can be followed all the way to the coast. West Acre, just a short distance away has a thriving theatre and music studios. The Ostrich can cater for all these needs, a roaring fire and hearty meals for the weary walker; early suppers for the theatre goers and a warm welcome for all the visitors.
  Four excellent Greene King real ales are well kept and presented. Lagers and cider on keg complete the range of draught available. The wine list can cater for most tastes in wines and all the usual spirits and soft drinks give a varied and well stocked bar.
  Jazz and folk clubs meet on Wednesday evenings and quizzes are held alternate monday evenings. The local football and cricket teams can be found celebrating ( or other wise ) at the weekend in the bar.
  Comfortable refurbished ensuite accommodation is available and can be room only, bed/breakfast or full board as required. Packed lunches can be provided for the explorers who want to stay out all day. Dogs are very welcome and if they can vouch for their owners, you can come too!
